Below are my TOP TEN HIGHLIGHTS of 2017!
2017 was only an OK year for me. So this post is a way for me to reflect and focus on the good 2017 brought me. Can’t wait for 2018!
🔟 In the first half of 2017, I finally went back to taking dance classes. 💃🏻 I grew up a dancer and miss the performance aspect of it. Most importantly, dancing is when I feel most free to let my guards down and express myself.
I realize it’s been over five months since my last dance class! 😱 Way too long! But other endeavors took up a lot of my time (more to come in Highlight 9️⃣ below).
Need to make more time for dance in 2018! In the mean time, here’s one of my fave pieces from 2017. Absolutely obsessed with the floor choreography!

9️⃣ If it isn’t already obvious, my dream career is in interior design. This year, I finally enrolled in classes to pursue my passion. 👩🏻🎨
I have three courses down, but plenty of more to go. With a full-time job, I can realistically take only one course per semester. I’m currently debating which class to take next, and whether or not I’ll enroll in the spring semester. I might take some time to breath and jump back into classes during the summer.
Here are a few projects from my Color Theory and Design Principles courses @ucberkeleyext 🎨
8️⃣ I may not blog full time, but I do love the community. So happy I attended @Femmefair this year.
I actually walked into the event by myself, not exactly knowing what to expect.
I walked out with a few more connections ranging from other bloggers to brands to photographers.
Can’t wait for your next event @StaceyAnnLoves, @Closet_Luxe, and @melsanv
You can read more about my experience here.
7️⃣ I actually won the lottery for tickets to @hamiltonmusical! Perfect timing for my sister’s birthday!
And the best part? We ended up with FRONT ROW CENTER seats! Ridiculous!
It was an experience like no other. We witnessed every emotion conveyed by the cast. We could see the sweat drip down their faces. It was great!
Not sure how this can top my next musical experience!

6️⃣ I absolutely love meeting up with fitness friends I’ve met via Instagram. I also love how they understand the need to take photos at every event 📸🤣
Working out with these ladies gave me the boost of confidence I needed in order to workout in just a sports bra. A few years ago, there’s no way you would catch me without a tank top on, but now, I sometimes find it difficult to run or spin while dripping in sweat. A clingy shirt is just as bad as a Stage 5 Clinger! 🙅🏻♀️
Thanks to women like @intentionally_kat, I said F it. I’m going to run or spin in comfort, even if it means baring my mid-section, which I’m super critical of. And let me tell you, it feels so gosh darn liberating to run without constraints aka a shirt (especially @barrysbootcamp)
Here’s a flashback to Kat’s event @cyclebar@cb_westgatewest (where I finally got to meet @pegactive!)
5️⃣ I finally met @winstonthebernedood! My favorite Bernese Mountain Dog + Poodle mix! Can you believe he JUST celebrated his first birthday? (In human years) 🐶
Disclaimer – this is not my dog. Winston belongs to my friends. Oh, how I long to be a dog mommy, but I simply don’t have time to take care of one. (My dream dog is a Shiba Inu 🐕)
For now, I’m happy to spend any chance I can get with Winston. If you swipe for more photos, it’s obvious he loves me as well 🤣LOL
I actually tire him out every single time I see him. Too much puppy love for him to handle hehehe
4️⃣ My favorite studio to take photos at is @MNTstudio! With their recent renovation, I find never ending moments of pretty. Best part? I love sharing these moments with you!
MNT and I are well-aligned because not only do we believe in health and wellness, but we believe in good design! (Shot out to @cassandracraindesign!)
So remember my passion for interior design? When I grow up, I would love to design boutique studios, which is a great way to weave my love for fitness into my love for interiors. Sounds far fetched, or perhaps way too niched, but hey, a girl can dream.
With that said, perhaps my Instagram feed now makes a little bit more sense since fitness and design are my main passions in life.
3️⃣ You know I love a good photo op and anything with pink (or lilac or turquoise – I’m a child of the 80’s).
One of my favorite experiences this year was the @museumoficecream. It was major pink overload!
Frolicking around in an ice cream themed museum is all one could ever want. Scroll through for photos I have yet to share 🍧🍦🍨
Let me know if you think I should work on a blog post for this. I still have yet to share details on the blog!
2️⃣ I’ve been keeping this to myself and have never done a big reveal, but here is a sneak peek…
This year, I finally updated my living room. After 8+ years of living in my place, I finally made it the Hollywood Regency / Eclectic / Modern Glam look I’ve craved for years!
I’ll share more in 2018 and perhaps finally write a blog post on it.
I absolutely love coming home to this! My custom @EthanAllen sofa arrived in February and that triggered me to update the look of my living room. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m very happy with it.
It’s soooooo Bernielicious, right?
1️⃣ My all time favorite experience of 2017 was the time I spent @colorfactoryco! Rolling around in confetti just made me appreciate life. Read more about my experience here.
Truth is, 2017 was not the best year for me. Nor was it the worst.
Sure, on social media, I surround myself with positivity because my “brand” is light-hearted, fun, colorful, cutesy and sassy. It’s reflective of my personality and I absolutely love spreading good vibes.
But this year hasn’t always all rainbows and unicorns. I sometimes do consider taking the more vulnerable route, but outside of fitness, fashion, design and food, I like to keep certain aspects of my life private 😉
So 2017 – not the best, but not the worst. But I made the best of it! I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us!
